ABOUT ME

I absolutely LOVE Halloween. But do you want know what's really scary?

1 in 4 women have been physically abused by an intimate partner.

Hi, my name is Kayla, a local from Connecticut. With a passion for travel, fashion and marketing, I wanted to take a negative situation and turn it towards a good cause.

On Aug. 23, 2020, my boyfriend at-the-time, grabbed me by the throat, choked and pushed me during an argument in my home. Three days later, and with the support of my family and friends, I went to the Wallingford Police Department to report a domestic violence incident. I'd like to say a special thank you to Officer Grimaldi for assisting me with a restraining order and being a wonderful resource to the community during my time in need.

Sept. 2020, I had created the original "Spooky Shirt" which was an oversized comfy sweatshirt with skeleton hands holding pumpkins.  My goal was to sell 50 shirts, with proceeds going to the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence. I sold 106 shirts and together we raised $592!

This year, I wanted to create a new design and continue my annual Spooky Fundraiser for Domestic Violence, as October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The sale will be from Sunday, August 1 to Sunday, October 31. My goal this year is to raise $1,000 from shirt sales and donations to give $500 to each domestic violence organization.
